Tales Vinyl Tells-”stories record albums convey”

Tales Vinyl Tells is my podcast that evolved into my radio show that airs weekly on RadioFreeNashville. I had quite a few LPs that I collected in the late 60s and 70s and I always knew the magic of the albums of that era of album-oriented rock brought back memories of times, people, smells, tastes and feelings. I hope it does for you too. Back-stories and album liner notes tie the tunes together. I’m your host Brian Hallgren and you should hear the Tales Vinyl Tells!

I really thought we were turning this virus around but it’s a tough one and as I get back to those healthy guidelines, I encourage all to get the vaccine and let’s get back to healing the world!
It’s Day 4 of the live concert recordings and we building to a great performance today from the great Johnny Winter with Rick Derringer, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and the top bill today is the legendary Fleetwood Mac! Petty and Stevie will sing a few as The Heartbreakers and The Mac trade off the stage.
Huge talent and large sound today on Tales Vinyl Tells. Don’t hold back to feel the nostalgia.

Ep 33 LIVE!

Thursday Sep 22, 2022

Thursday Sep 22, 2022

You were warned last episode! This is the start of the Post Covid Outdoors Concert series, PCOC 2021. I like to call it Peacock ‘21. Also known as the New Days Festival, it’s a look at the future for concerts and arts fairs and is free and everybody gets along here. Ok, you may say I’m a dreamer, but hey, I’m not the only one. (Thanks, John). Use your imagination as we get closer to living lives similar to the way they were before February and March of 2020. Who would you like to see live? Frampton with Humble Pie and Steve Marriot? Doobie Brothers? The Beatles? Well, dream on…..with me. They’re all here at today’s New Days Festival. I’d love to hear your comments about these podcasts and suggestions for future podcasts. The crowd’s getting wild! Better turn it up! The show’s ready to start!

Ep 31 A is for...B is for....

Thursday Sep 22, 2022

Thursday Sep 22, 2022

Weird title, right? Let me explain. Details in this podcast are as encouraging as pandemic news is. Live activities are getting closer, we’re given the go-ahead for many activities but let’s not give up on the Covid fight we’ve staged. That’s my PSA for today.
Musically, we start the alpha-trek through my LPs (other sources too) with Allmans (no surprise), Boz, Cat, Dire and so on. You’ve heard many of these and replays can stimulate senses. Maybe there’s one here that’s new to you. I’d like to know your thoughts. Glad you’re listening!

Ep 30 Dylan: sold his catalog!

Thursday Sep 08, 2022

Thursday Sep 08, 2022

Dylan has reportedly sold 600+ of his songs for an estimated $300 million! In his nearly 60 years of composing and singing his songs, he has gained respect, love and fandom from many and I want to salute some of his works. You’ll hear today, The Band, The Byrds, The Turtles, Keith Emerson’s first successful band and so much more. I hope you enjoy these originals and covers of the music of Bob Dylan. I’d love to hear from you about this one and anything else about Tales Vinyl Tells. How ‘bout some volume on this thing??

See if you know the band playing under the voice in this one. Let me know. I got on a tear here, from the Doobies, a Monkee and CSN&Y to Seger from ‘75 in Detroit, my hopes are that you’ll enjoy this one. It’s an exciting time in America! Nearing the end of the first month of a new year, we’ve inaugurated a new administration and a Covid-19 vaccine is rolling out, despite shortages, delays and bad governors’ playing games with the pandemic. But I always found that music was a kind of salve, to help me through the good and bad and this episode’s no exception. With Hendrix, Seals and Crofts, Steely Dan and more, there’s plenty to celebrate here. Let me know what you think would be a good one to play, maybe a group of tunes that go together. Details in the podcast. The headphones I mention are the HD-6XX Sennheisers from Drop.com. Enjoy and happy listening.
